Core Values

Greenland Fedha PLC (GFL) is a non-deposit taking credit provider in Kenya, established in 2009 as a limited liability company under the Companies Act (Cap. 486), Registration Number CPR/2009/8932. The Company was then converted to a public limited company on 01 June 2025 under registration number PLC-A5QTVJ639. The company is 99% owned subsidiary of Kenya Tea Development Agency Holdings Limited (KTDA [H]). GFL is a member of the Association of Microfinance Institutions in Kenya.

The idea behind creating GFL was to provide financial support to small-scale tea farmers who were delivering their green leaf to KTDA-managed tea factories but had no access to financial services. These farmers were paid in cash for their monthly and second payments. It was also part of KTDA’s strategy to expand its portfolio by investing in profitable ventures that would benefit its shareholders and other stakeholders.

The main mandate of GFL is working with small small-scale tea farmers in providing affordable financial services tailored to the needs of smallholder tea farmers facilitating improved agricultural practices and contributing to the overall development of the tea sector in Kenya.

Over the years, GFL has currently evolved to providing a wide range of financial services to farmers in the tea sub sector including; Bonus Advance Flex Loan, Monthly loan, Bidii loan, Inuka loan, Jijenge loan, Imarika loan,Biogas Loan and Tea and Fedha Pap loan. GFL intends to leverage on its specialized expertise in providing specialised financial services to low-income households in the tea subsector as it leverages its affiliation with the Kenya Tea Development Agency Holdings (KTDA [H]) to penetrate the Microfinance Industry and expand its services in Kenya.  Membership to GFL is voluntary.
